Music as a full body experience
Before Voice Yoga, before Spark of Spirit, even before Ola Sangels, there was Senivoda — a unique music project born in Melbourne in 2013, when Ola magnetized incredible musicians to help her original compositions come to life. Sen means dream, voda means water in Polish, Ola’s mother tongue. Over the 6 years that Senivoda was active in the Australian music scene, the project became a close collaboration between Ola Milena (Sangels) and a bassist and multi instrumentalist Raphael Bowen. From the duo, the project grew into a living collective expanding into as large as a 10 piece band on stage. More than twenty musicians from across the world added their voices to the current, drawing together psychedelic textures of the 70s, the melodies of Polish mountain folk, jazz harmony, soul, and the ancient rhythms of indigenous traditions.
The band's debut album, Dream & Water, was conceptualized in the jungle of the Northern Rivers, NSW, and recorded between Melbourne and Hong Kong — released on the auspicious date of 11.11.2019. Eleven songs, carefully shaped as an offering: a call to remember the Earth, and to remember each other. Happy Mag's review noted the album's tendency to move fluidly through folk, soul, jazz, and pop while staying distinctly their own.
The project toured across Australia and Asia, sharing its rituals with rooms full of strangers who left as something closer to kin.
Senivoda was where Ola first learned what she now teaches through Voice Yoga: that sound is never just heard. It's felt, shared, and used to open something in the body that words alone cannot reach.
Senivoda's live shows became known as full-body experiences — dance, theatre, smoke, and crystal woven around the music, an invitation for the audience to bathe in sound rather than simply hear it. Beat Magazine, reviewing the single "Dropz," wrote that Senivoda fully embraced the Australian landscape in the track.
